Student Code of Conduct  –  ages 8 and up     (Revised 9/8/2003)

I am here by choice to learn, to achieve and to acquire freedom through the discipline of dance. Therefore:

1. If I have questions concerning my work, I will ask to speak with my teacher privately, outside of class.

2. I will arrive for class early so that I will be fully dressed out and ready to dance by the beginning of class. After class, I will allow adequate time for dressing and cooling down. My dress to and from class will include “cover-up” garments and street shoes.

3. My class attire will include leotard, tights and appropriate footwear. I will follow the student dress code, as stated in the school brochure.

4. I will arrange my hair up, off the neck and tightly secured (“pirouette proof”) before I enter the dance studio.

5. I will wear no necklaces, bracelets, large dangling earrings or watches to class.

6. I will bring my valuables and dance bag into the studio during class.

7. I will turn off my cell phone during class.

8. I will not chew gum or eat food in class.

9. Water bottles are the only drink allowed in the studio during class.

10. I will refrain from the use of alcohol, tobacco products and illegal drugs.

11. I will maintain silence in the classroom at all times, unless called on. To ask a question regarding the lesson, I will raise my hand.

12. I will respect the rights of others in class by taking my turn in order and moving off the dance floor when proper to do so.

13. I will maintain a positive attitude in class, encourage fellow classmates in their efforts and listen to all corrections given by the teacher, including those directed to other students.

14. I will speak with respectful and appropriate language at all times when addressing classmates, teachers, parents and any other persons.

15. My behavior in the lobby will be quiet so that the class in session and the staff of the Long Reach Village Association can work in peace.

16. If I feel ill during class, or feel for any reason that I must leave, I will go to the instructor and quietly ask to be excused from class.

17. I will support and abide by these rules of conduct at all times, and will expect others to do so in my interest. I understand that if I do not abide by this code I may be excused from class and/or dismissed from the dance school.
