Columbia's Home for Dance Since 1983
Over 40 years of building confidence, creativity, and lifelong friendships through the art of dance.
How It All Began
When Cindee White went off to college, she had decided to study something other than her passion โ dance. It didn't take long for her to realize that was a mistake, so she promptly changed course and started studying Dance Education at Towson State University.
After graduating, she started teaching classes in Howard County, and in 1983, Ballet with Cindee Velle was born.
"I was in love with helping kids become confident in themselves as they saw their progress as dancers," Cindee recalls. "And I loved the family community we were able to build."
A Family Legacy
That daughter, Aimee Velle Moran, earned her BFA in Dance Performance from East Carolina University and went on to perform professionally โ from the Baltimore Opera to Royal Caribbean cruise lines. Today, Aimee is the Competition Director and Co-Owner of BCV Dance Center, carrying on her mother's legacy.
BCV Today
In April 2023, the studio moved to a beautiful new location on Red Branch Road in Columbia, MD, and became BCV Dance Center. The studio features resilient flooring, barres, mirrors, and two-way mirrors so parents can observe classes.
Over 40 years later, the mission hasn't changed: every child who walks through our doors becomes part of our family.
